Route One Junior Performance Development was established in 2024 alongside my professional playing career and my role within the Stockport County Academy, with the aim of providing young aspiring footballers, both boys and girls aged 6/7+, access to high-quality, small group coaching at West End AFC in Denton.
With experience playing professionally for a number of local clubs and currently competing with Rochdale AFC, alongside over three years of academy coaching experience at Stockport County and holding a UEFA A Coaching Licence, Route One is built on delivering detailed, game-realistic training that supports individual player development.
Sessions are open to players from both grassroots and academy backgrounds and are designed to provide extra contact time with a coach, allowing players to focus on specific areas of their game while gaining guidance, knowledge, and, where appropriate, potential future opportunities through strong links with local academy environments.
Our aim at Route One is to support the long-term development of young players by creating a positive, challenging, and professional learning environment that prioritises confidence, enjoyment, and progression through football.
Sessions are delivered in small groups of up to 15 players for 60 minutes, allowing detailed focus on individual possession, passing and receiving, combining with teammates, attacking and defending principles, and shooting actions, all tailored to the needs of each player.
Training progresses through structured learning blocks, moving from unopposed ball mastery into opposed practices and competitive small-sided game scenarios, helping players transfer learning into real match environments such as 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 football.
With the flexibility to adapt sessions around individual learning objectives set by clubs or personal development needs, Route One aims to inspire a lifelong love for sport while supporting each player’s unique journey both on and off the pitch.
